Come spend a weekend with renowned teacher, canine expert and trainer Diane Bauman. Diane is one of the founders of modern dog training. Her book Beyond Basic Dog Training, first published in 1986 and now in its third revision, helped to revolutionize our sport. Her success, especially with non-traditional breeds (Afghan Hounds!), is renowned and unparalleled. Diane is one of the most innovative and out-of-the-box trainers and competitors of our time. 

OVERVIEW OF SOME OF THE TOPICS COVERED 

Learn how to use food to your advantage; motivation you can take into the ring. Training all breeds of dogs to be competitive. Learn how to keep your dog’s attention in the obedience ring as well as understanding the difference between “artificial” and “real” attention. How to train for understanding; not patterning. Special small dog techniques. Causes and solutions for the “ring wise” dog. Building a strong relationship through communication. How to transfer from on-leash to off -leash heeling without losing accuracy. Training from the dog’s point of view. Learn to avoid practicing your mistakes. 

ABOUT DIANE BAUMAN 

Diane is one of the most successful professionals in the field of dog training across multiple performance events. Diane uses her talent and innate sensitivity, knowing how dogs think and people learn. Teaching the student and the dog to think is foremost in her teaching skills. Diane has instructed thousands of successful students, many of whom have gone on to be renowned competitors and trainers in the world of canine competition. Diane has earned 16 perfect 200 scores with 4 different breeds and attained 4 Obedience Trial Champions (OTCH) Titles. She has spent countless hours rehabilitating,training and placing hundreds of rescue dogs. Diane is the author of numerous publications, DVD’s and books on the topics of obedience, tracking and agility. FORMAT OF SEMINAR 

 Sat: 9-5 Sun: 8:30-4:30.There will be no distinctions between working and auditing spots and all attendees are encouraged to bring  dogs. Seminar format is lecture, demonstration and audience participation. There will be opportunities to work with dogs on problem solving and mastering new skills. Dogs will be worked, but not every dog will do every exercise. Registration is limited. After registration you will be sent a questionnaire to submit to Diane. 

Due to Covid restrictions, please bring your own food. Beverages and light snacks will be provided. Covid protocals will based on the state's recommendations at the time of the event.

The seminar will be held in a 40x50 matted air- conditioned room. Crating will be in the seminar area as well as in an adjoining air-conditioned office/training area. Each person will be guaranteed  one crate footprint not exceeding 6 ft. No x-pens. You may stack crates and/or put more than one dog in a crate.

It is suggested that people who can only attend one day, come on Saturday, since the instruction on Sunday will be based on Saturday's information. This does not apply to repeat seminar attendees.

Cancellations: all checks will be deposited on Monday, August 9, 2021. No refunds will be given after that date unless you or the hosting entity is able to fill your spot. Canceled entry checks will be shredded.
